Coastal town garden
Design for a garden by the sea in Newquay.
I had fun bringing this lovely little garden of a period house in Newquay to life. An overgrown dumping ground was transformed into a tranquil space, great for entertaining. French doors now lead out onto a stunning patio/ seating area, framed by a large wooden herb spiral, constructed from reclaimed timbers. This and some sculptural wooden posts add height, structure and rhythm. A pebble pathway winds to the driveway, skirting around beautifully planted beds - a mix of meadow plants for pollinators and edible herbs, on a lime green and purple colour scheme. Boundaries were made of yacht cabling, giving a contemporary, nautical twist and these were clad in some heady climbers, the monstrous Clematis armandii and delicate Chocolate Vine, Akebia quinata.
